well, a piece of it anyway. the main glass shelf of the old fridge was just slightly smaller than the opening for a basement window, so together with some scrap wood, a few screws and a tube of caulk, we now have a functioning window. it's draft-free, and lets in more light than the old broken piece of plywood.
the uppermost two courses of bricks and those around the sides of the window are just stacked there - i couldn't be bothered moving them for the photo, so you don't get to see much of the artisanal workmanship.

the rest of the fridge should be recycled by now anyway.
oh, and one day, the basement will actually get some real windows.
